This Week in Worship
Lenten worship at First United will continue in the Fellowship Hall, where a large wooden cross has been installed from which seven lengths of deep purple cloth radiate, forming a tent-like pattern above the worship space. The overall worship theme for the season of Lent is "From Isolation to Community".
During Lent, the congregation is singing the Psalms, with congregational refrain and cantor, this week Psalm 63: 1 - 8. The Gospel text for March 7 is Luke 13: 1 - 9. Rev. Lusak's Lenten sermons focus on both the Psalms and the Gospel texts. Her sermon title this week is "The Fabulous Feast of Forgiveness". The service of worship will conclude with the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper.
This week, the chancel choir will sing Felix Mendelssohn's Grant, O Lord, Thy Grace Unbounded with Kristine Wohlfahrt as soloist. The service will begin with Minister of Music Maury Castro playing Clarence Kohlmann's arrangement of William Sherwin's 'Break Thou the Bread of Life'. There are no postludes during the Lenten season.
