Faith Education: Adult, Children & Youth

At First United , the faith development and spiritual formation of people of all ages are high values, and the Sunday morning faith education program reflects those values. Faith education classes for all ages from toddlers through adults are held during the hour following worship from September through May.  We look forward with joy to welcoming you to these opportunities for learning together about the Christian faith.

Children's Faith Education

Exciting things are happening with children's faith education .

For children in elementary grades through middle school, we offer the Workshop Rotation Model, which provides the opportunity to experience Bible stories in engaging and creative ways, for example, with drama, computers, video, games and puzzles, music, art, and even cooking. Specially designed room environments enhance the experience. The curriculum is the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)’s We Believe Workshop. To learn more about the workshop  model of faith education, log on the website at www.workshop.org.

For preschool children, we offer ‘Godly Play’ as developed by Sonya Stewart and Jerome Berryman.

The church nursery is located adjacent to our Fellowship Hall and recently has been completely repainted and refurbished. It is is staffed by two loving and experienced caregivers, Dorothy Sorrento and Donna Ernst, and is available during worship and faith education for children from birth to age 4.

Adult Faith Education at 11:30 a.m.

Adult classes are offered on topics that include Bible study, spiritual formation, faith in daily life, and issues of concern in church and society.   On December 13 and 20,  adults will have the opportunity to experience the new workshop rotation model of faith education in a series of intergenerational workshops exploring the birth story in the Gospel of Luke.
